Delo 400 Oil
 

I have heard a lot of good things about Delo 400 Oil. Is it only reccommended for diesals? If you can you it with gas engines, what weight should you use.

Is it really that good.....will it clean you engine?

Yes, it is REALLY good!
 

Normally the 15W-40 weight will be satisfactory for all season usage in all but the most cold climates for most gas & diesel MB's prior to the late '90's on. In my '73 450SE I have recently gone to a 4 quart/ 4 quart, 50/50 mix of this product and Chevron Supreme 10W-30 for winter temps & because I can get Chevron Supreme for $0.59 per quart, vs. $6-7 for a gallon of Delo.

The 10W-30 weight, usually a little harder to find, might be a good choice in very cold climates for the winter months.

Yes it will help to clean your engine and keep it clean. Standard OCI's of 7,500 miles are no problem for these oils, IMHO.

You don't indicate in your profile where you are located and weight is dependent upon climate.

I have used Delo 400 for about 18 years in just about everything on the place from diesel cars, tractors and trucks to gas cars and gas trucks. I have used it exclusively in my 88 MB 300E gasser and my 88 Corvette. The MB now has 288,000 miles and the Vette has 117,000 miles and are both doing great.

Delo has a high S classification as well as the highest C classification so it works great for diesels and gas as long as the weight works for your climate.

I have had great luck with Delo and like the fact that it's relatively inexpensive. I run Castrol GTX in my non-Mbz cars because they use lighter weight oil and Delo doesn't seem to be available in other weights.

You can get mineral oil-based Delo 400 in 10W-30 though it doesn't seem to be widely available.

Synthetic Delo 400 IIRC is available in a 0W-40.
