EGR valve in '89 300E?
 

Hi All, I give up :confused:

Is there a EGR valve in my 300E?? I can't find it but parts sources suggest that it does have one. On my exhaust manifold I do see a flat spot where in later models the EGR mounts .... but nothing there on mine.

ps I'm trying to address a stumbling/rough idle (500rpm) after engine has warmed up. When cold it idles nicely actually around 900 rpm. It's driving me nuts trying to find the cause....

My 88 has no EGR valve that I have ever found.

I believe '89 California M103s have EGR, but maybe not 49-state configurations.

Look at the emission/tuneup label to see if EGR is listed. If the manifold pad is not machined for a EGR valve then it probably didn't originally have one, but the label will say for sure.
