replacing year suspension-how to keep level
91 300E - 124.030
When replacing all rear suspension pieces, what sequence is used when removing/replacing and how is everything tightened (loaded/no load) to ensure that car is level & @ design height? Input is valued for this project to freshen drivetrain. If tires are on and car is on ground, cant get to all members to get fasteners tight. |
With the car on the ground, measure the height from the center of the wheel to the fender lip. When tightening the bolts, use a floor jack to raise the rear axle until the distance from the center of the wheel hub to the fender lip is about the same as your first measurement.

Rick, consider using ramps for the front wheels then jacking the rear wheels one-at-a-time and placing pieces of 2" x 10" under each rear wheel so that the car is level, but high enough for safe access to all fasteners.
