1989 300se vacuum assist pump
 

CONCERNING THIS PUMP THAT RUNS THE DOOR LOCKS.....can anyone tell me where the pump is located (to replace it) and is it a labor intensive job to do it..?
mine still works but it is slow to open all 4 doors, take several seconds for them to all pop up...my wife is constantly making the alarm go off by opening the driver door too soon before all the doors are unlocked etc......the pump used to work much faster but is getting slow now..must be fading out...
if i don't want the locks to all open when i unlock the driver door, is there an easy way to disable the vacuum assist..so that the doors have to be unlocked and locked manually.......thanks

The pump is under the rear seat, passenger side. The pump is not likely to be the problem. A leak is more likely.

Sorry, but I believe the vacuum pump for the central locking is in the boot.

Lift the panel that covers the spare and on the right you will see a triangle of dark colored foam near the lip of the rear of the car, lift that out and the pump is under there.

You say it is a 300SE - so I am assuming a 126.

But I do agree with stevebfl that a vac leak is more likely the problem.
