1994 C280 water pump replacement
Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and Mercedes. I have a 94 C280 that I absolutely love. The water pump seems to need replacing since coolant leaks profusely from that area. I have the part in hand, and would appreciate any advice given. I have experience working on automobiles but never Mecedes, and I hear that they can be tricky. Therefore, the more detailed the better. Also, If anyone knows where I can find a repair manual for this model (1994 C280--104.941 engine) please let me know. Thanks Vance |

You'll need a special tool for removing the fan on that model. There's an allen bolt that holds the fan to the pulley and not much room to access it. There are special tools for holding the pulley from behind, and a special tool for loosening the bolt. It's a pain in the butt if you've never done it before. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty straight forward. I'd suggest replacing the drive belt while you're in there and flushing the coolant. Refill with MB fluid. Be very careful of your wiring harness if it hasn't been replaced already. Usually just touching the thing will give you problems. That year is notorious for becoming brittle and cracking. Probably a good idea to replace sometime soon. About 500 bucks if i'm not mistaken. Hope this helps.
