Hi

I have a 1995 C280 and its been raining a lot here in Dallas lately. The windshield wipers havent' been working right on my car as of recent. I thought it was just the wiper blade because the wiper arm was getting "hung up" slowed down when it reached over the center of the winshield. It turns out the wiper blade was bad and I did replace it, but the whole mechanism still gets hung up sweeping over the middle area of the winshield. Any ideas as to what would cause this? Could the motor be worn out? The blade swishes water away, it just gets caught in the middle of the winshiled and struglles to reach the other side and sweep back arounda again.

Thanks,
Troy

Have replaced the W/S wiper gearing assembly on way too many C-Class cars!! Almost all will ruin the motor if the strain from bad gearing remains. Benzmac says he has fixed a few by lubrication on the shaft with the arm removed. The ones that I've replaced had a broken drive gear in the gearing assembly. # 202-820-07-07 & list is $580.

Windshield wiper transmission...

Hello,
My sister's 92 300E 4matic's wiper transmission just got replaced at a cost of $800 dollars. ($600+labor)Maybe this is the reason why the 2001 C class have the double wiper arm system. Pretty expensive part. And I was balking at a $650 dollars part for the A/C high pressure hose of my 190E -16.

Just my .02 cents.

Regards,
Orlie

I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM LAST WEEK AND FIXED IT BY LUBRICATING THE SHAFT. DO A SEARCH ON "WIPER" TO FIND THE POSTS.
