What are the different services?

What is included in the different scheduled maintenance. Are they different for each model? Our new C230's next will be a B service and the E500 is working towards an F.

Thanks.

If you still have all the documents that came with the car, there should be a maintenance book that cae with the owner's manual. In there is a detailed list of what is performed at every service. FSS cars and pre-FSS cars do have different intervals and a slightly different list of what is done with the services.

My service booklet shows services 1 through 14 and the intervals between. The car is 2 1/2 years in service so many of those items aren't yet applicable. My display shows Service F required in 6700 kilometers. What's an F service (not numbered 1 through 14)?

Thanks.

Using the multifunction steering wheel, you should be able to bring up the list of 'service items'- this is where it will list the items with numbers. Your C-class will cycle between A and B only

Thanks for the info, I was able to get the list. What doesn't make sense is that it's calling for spark plugs, filters and other items that aren't required based on the mileage and time in service that's shown in the manual. Obviously some items are due for service and replacement and some of the things listed are simple, like checking the undercarriage for rust, but why would longer term items show up now? Malfunction?

Well, if its been 4 years, you should change the spark plugs regardless of mileage. Otherwise, you are going to end up with an unwelcome surprise later on when you find out that they won't come out because they are nearly welded to the head.

Mercedes changed the 100,000 miles interval to every 4 years of 100,000 miles whichever comes first. But I understand that it has now been changed again to every 5 years or 100,000 whichever comes first. I guess they figured that they could push it back a year and it would not fall under scheduled maintenance that is included with the vehicle.

The car is a 2003 put in service in Oct. of 2002. It has 54,000 miles on it and the display is showing Service 5, 6, & 7 (among others) which are only supposed to be done every 5 years or 62,000 miles (other than 7 which is 100,000 miles).
