00 c230k - P0410 - Secondary Air Inj.

Hey guys,

My car recently threw this code, as well as P0433 - Evap system leak (large) - well the evap system leak was a gas cap that some gorilla overtightened to the point of breaking (he spun the metal insert 90 degrees past the plastic). My car has never thrown a CEL before.

So I replaced the aforementioned gas cap, all was well CEL went out, now its back with code P0410 - Secondary Air injection system.

I have read and know that the Kompressor engines do not use a separate air injection pump, but rather use the supercharger as the air inj pump.

There are two valves that could possibly be the culprit, the first being the diverter valve, attached to the airbox, the second being the valve atop the charcoal canister.

The other issue that may cause this is a lagging o2 sensor, which doesnt drop in voltage in time. I also know these cars sometimes have issues with the MAF sensor, but i dont think that could be related to this particular code, if my understanding of the system is correct.

Does anyone have any specific procedures to test these components, either on the bench or in the car. I am an EE and have access to pretty much any test equipment out there.

Thanks in advance,

George

George....what you need is a scanner with activation functions...then you activate that system... the Kompressor engages..flap actuator divertes air to diverter valve..switchover valve applies vacuum...& air is injected thru the check valve...at that point the O2 sensor flat-lines at less than 40mv and remains at that point for the duration of the activation.
