Window movement

I have a CLK430 Cab whose left rear window seems to close "too much". It now protrudes into the space for the driver door window to rise and I cannot close the driver window without opening the door. I believe it may be the window regulator at fault. My question is can it be adjusted, remounted? The up/down function works as expected but it does not stop in the right place when closed.

Rgds, Ed

Hi, I'm just bumping this thread...

Doesn't anyone know if the window regulator movement is adjustable? Is this a remove/replace parts job or can I possibly adjust/repair?

Thx, Ed

not familiar with your car, but...

The best bet is to remove the inner panel or refer to the service manual parts drawings for reference. Many window motors/regulators employ a trip switch to deactivate power when either up or down limits are reached. If this is the case, the contact switch is usually mounted to the assembly and can come loose throwing off the travel.

Some regulators employ a clutch switch which is tripped via physical resistance, ie. meeting physical stops; in this case, the most common issue is what you have due to loose mounting of the regulator or window arm assembly to the body of the car.

You will need to remove the panel and actuate the window up and down until you see the issue. 9/10 times your whole assembly is loose in it mountings and needs to be tightened with maybe a little thread lock.

Good luck
