Just bought new E320 sedan and was surprised to find it lacked daytime running lights. Any suggestions? After-market installation? Don't want to do anything to void warranty, etc. Comments appreciated

Turn On Your Headlamps?
Honestly, my best suggestion...
|
Does it have fog lamps? If so, does the light switch have a way to turn on just fog lamps, or parking lamps with just fog lamps? On both of my MB's, I use the fog lamps as DRL's. On the 81 300D (W123), I had to "reconfigure" (change a couple of wires on the switch & add a relay) so that I turn the switch one click clockwise to operate parking lights & fogs only.
On the 91 350SDL (W126), I merely turn the switch one click clockwise & pull it out to operate fogs without headlamps. |
I have a factory Canadian DRL module that replaces the regular US light switch. Part comes from my 2001 Canadian E-class, let me know if you're interested?
For the E-class (unlike the S where you can do reprogramming), the light switch makes DRL possible. I don't like DRL myself and that's why I put on a regular US switch to kill DRL on mine. |
i use my foglamps on my 300e as daytime driving lamps but i removed the yellow filters. looks awsome! i use head and fog lamps at night a lot better visibility.
good luck! adam |
Reply to Eric: re daytime running lights
Thanks for info regarding Canadian light module. Would certainly be interested. Don't have your email address, but you can reach me at sharktooth1@earthlink.net.
Sounds like just what I need if installation isn't too difficult. |
DRL on US 2001 E-class
Ok, I'll email you directly, thanks.

Every Benz I've ever owned had Daytime Running Lights. To operate them, turn the headlight switch two clicks clockwise from the off position.
Have a great day, |
LarryB, mine, too.
