I am the recent owner of a 1982 300 S Turbo Diesel. Need advice on the following, please: Would you recommend Shell Rotella or is there a better oil for this diesel engine? What type of wax should be used for the exterior finish? Should I use ny type of oil or fuel treatment? Thanks in advance for your help.

Diesel Products

Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst, Mobil 1 Delvac (synthetic), and Mequiars Black Gold polish. Most can be found through Parts Shop.

Can't Argue With That...

I agree fully. The only additions I can offer is that Redline 85+ is identical to Diesel Fuel Catalyst, and that DelVac 1 can be hard to find, so you can always use regular Mobil 1.

And for Larry Bible: I was talking to a gentleman at a top rated independent testing laboratory last week, and when the subject of motor oil came up he candidly told me that based on testing they had done, he felt that Chevron DELO 400 was the best oil you could use in your diesel motor, even over DelVac 1!!!

Oh, and one last thing, only use Mercedes antifreeze/coolant.

You are 100% correct! We spoke with the Redline rep a few weeks ago and he confirmed this. It's the same stuff in two different bottles.
