Question 240d Vent fell out of dash

Help!!!
The vent assembly/ regulator on passenger side fell back into the dash board. I am replacing my speakers and thought I would just slide it back in, since I have access. The regulator has decided diffrent. Does anyone know the trick to doing this? I dont seem to get it. I am starting to think my car is evil. Help.

Posted a reply on the other post you made.

Remove the glove box inner shell. Do this by removing the glove box light. Pull it out and disconnect he wires. Remove the 7 ( 3 bottom, 4 top) tabs that hold the box in the dash. To do this you remove the T shaped top part of the rivet. A split screwdriver helps. Then when the center of the rivet is out remove, the base. See attched.

Remove the glove box by lowering the top, to clear the latch striker and pull out the box. Now you have acces to the vent. There should be 4 small openings on the vent tube section that connects to the dash. If the part on the opening that is close to the edge is broken, then you will have to get a new one or try to repair the old one. I have not attempted to repair the broken vent. The closable vent is available at the dealer, new, or get a used one.

If it is OK then try remounting the vent by placing your hand on the dash in front of the opening. Align the tabs on the vent with the tabs on the reciver and pressing the vent on. It will click into position, 4 tabs, 4 clicks.
