HELP: C-CLass Stalling! Doesn't Start...

Hey guys, I've had this on and off problem with my car now for a year and a half. I'll be driving and my car will just shut off and stall. I'll push it in neutral off the road, and sit there trying to start it. At times I'll spend 30 minutes trying to start it with no luck and good amount of gas in the tank. It eventually does start, and it'll continue stalling when driving. Sometimes It'll drive fine no hint of anything being wrong, and once I come out the mall, it won't want to start. It'll turn over, but won't fire up. I can't seem to figure out what's causing this. At times I'll go a month without any sort of problems and not a single stall. This week I can't even go to the corner store without worrying if the car will start.

Since this problem started, Mercedes charged me to do a diagnotic scan and told me it was a Code for Air Mass Meter that was showing up. I changed the Air Mass Meter, and it really made no difference. Sometimes when i'm driving my ABS light started to flicker but not stay on, just flicker and sometimes a shake. My Indie Mechanic charged me another 200 dollars for a scan and told me no codes were being identified and perhaps it might be a transmission issue.?? Then I went to another indie mechanic, and he said my brakes and rotors were near the end of their life span and perhaps it was causing some ABS issues, and at a cost of 850 dollars I changed my rotors and pads. The problem has still continued, my car stalls, and my ABS lights flicker.

In the last couple months I have so far changed on my car:

Bosch Air Mass Meter
All 4 rotors and Pads
Spark Plugs
Air Filter
A/T Trans Fluid and Filter done by Indie Benz Mech.
and they havn't solved a single problem.
New Engine WireHarness (year and half)

If anyone has any idea or suggestions on what might be causing all these problems on my car, please let me know. I'm desperate to fix this, and have no faith in Cert. Mercedes right now.

I'm So Sorry, I forgot to List my model.
I own a 94 Mercedes C220.

THanks

Well it would help if you told us the year and model. Since the C class was made and still is for the last 12-13 years. Not to mention that all over the world there are about 18+ Diferent models for the 2 body styles and about 8+ diferent engine choices accross those two body styles.

I went to a Mechanic that works on Euro's today with my stalling problem. He said the scan didn't turn out anything, and only pointed to small crack on the oil fill cap. Changed that, but no idea what's causing it to stall sometimes. I'm starting to wonder if its the OVP thing? Any idea's?

I believe a 94 W202 still used an Overvoltage Relay. This relay is a silver box with 1 maybe 2 fuses in the top of it. It supplies voltage to the engine control "LH-HFM" and ABS control modules. It is located on right side rear of engine compartment under the black cover near the X11/4 connector, the OBD connector . Try tapping on the relay and see if the car stalls. If it does, thats your problem.

Thanks for the response. My car does have the O-V relay, and it only has one fuse in it. Is it supposed to be that way? should I try another fuse in it? Its exactly where you mentioned it being also. When my car stall's, sometimes i tap it, take fuse out, put it back in...go to the truck and pull and reinsert the fuel relay, and it tends to start after a few minutes. My ABS light flashes sometimes when I drive. I read in the manual that if the ABS light comes on, it indicates a failure of the system. I wonder what the flashing is trying to tell me?

Do you know how I can test the O-V relay?
thanks

More STALLING...

It happened again. I started my car up this morning, I reversed it out of the garage. Once i put it into drive and got up to the street....the car stalled and started rolling. It almost rolled into the ditch...brakes didn't work well with the stall, had to stomp the E-brake or I would have been in the ditch. I kept trying to restart it, no body home....Some passerby's helped me roll it back to the garage in Neutral. COuple minutes later, it started up again and drove fine....what's going on here?

If it stalls again, I'm going to put this thing is neutral and push it down a cliff and let it land at SilverStar Mercedes in Surrey. Bastards told me my car was fine...

Silverstar is a crappy mercedes dealer, don't ever go there. 2 weeks ago, my wiper's rubber split during a rainy day and it was getting dark. I went their and picked up a new wiper blade...$35 plus taxes. It was raining hard, so I asked them to help me so it would be quick, they said no, you'd have to pay for Labour...alrite, fair enough. Then I saw this covered area on back where I think they wash cars, I asked if I could park there and change the blade, they were like no, and they wouldn't turn the light on. Like all i'm asking for on this rainy day is if I can get some shelter to change my WIPER blade! It was raining so hard, and I was dressed up. If I didn't change my wiper blade I woudln't have been able to get onto the freeway, and see. They didn't care, told me to go to a gas station, and that's exactly what I did. I've had bad experiance with them, anyone else dealt with them?

Hey trueog, take ozzy's advice and change the OVP. I'm amazed that none of the MB "experts" you've taken it to couldn't figure it out!!! Yeah, it can make the CEL come on. It can cause the ABS light to come on. It can cause the engine to stall. It can cause the crank/no-start condition too. It can also kill the battery and ruin expensive control modules (HFM-SFI, ABS). Just replace it and you'll be done pushing the car all over the place!!!

HEY THANKS! Honestly, what you said right now is the answer i've awaited 6 months for. So it is the OVP causing all these problems that no one seems to solve. I'm gonna get on it right away and change my OVP. Right now my car's having alot of probs and check engine light came on recently also... Is it easy to change it? I know where it is on my car, but how do i take it off? pull it out like a relay? please fill me in. THanks alot.

What about the Voltage Regulator ? Where's it located on my car and do you think it needs to be changed also? What are some known trouble issues that confirm that the Voltage Regulator is done for?

Also is Kaehler (KAE) Overload Protection Relay a good one to go with? ******** has it on their site for $56.23, I just thought i'd ask if its a good brand.

Thanks
