I am due for an exhaust on my '84 190E 2.3 auto and the dealer wants an arm and a leg. Performance Products catalog/on-line wants $800 (not incl exhaust manifold.)

Any other suitable and affordable spots?

my experience with 91 300TE exhaust
 

My dealer was worthless - wanted $650 for the resonator and tailpipe, including an estimated 3 hours labor at $85/hr. The major muffler places were a little better - $450 using Mercedes parts. I ended up at my local tire and suspension place getting Italian parts with a 2 year warranty for $320, and they installed it in 30 minutes for no extra charge.

My dealer truly did not know how much labor would be involved - I think almost nobody goes there for that type of repair. The Italian parts (I forget the brand name) were made specifically for the car, fit perfectly, and have performed well.

How about us? We carry the ANSA brand that will fit perfectly. We will ship it to your door.

I think that the center muffler and the rear muffler are about $90. a piece or so.

I can recommend Timevalve. I have bought two systems from them one for a '79 280E and one for my '72 250C. They are made completely out of stainless. I am not sure if they are the cheapest in town, but they are top-drawer quality.
