Dear All:
The check engine light came on twice in the last two months. Both times the led blinked 16 times which means something wrong with the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculate) Valve. I visually inspected (i.e. look at) the valve and can't tell if anything is wrong. I resetted the light and the car drive just fine. Any tips on checking the valve? Servicing the valve? Thanks, Paul |
EGR Valve
I took mine off cleaned it and the tube. Tested with hand vacuum pump I got at Sears, works fine! Do a search, lots of good info here.

Getting an EGR code doesn't mean that the valve is bad! What it means is that the EGR test doesn't meet pass the criteria designed into the computer. Many times the metal tube that takes the EGR from the valve to the intake manifold plugs up. It is a system so have it checked for proper operation!
