Follow Up on Replacement - Das Boat back on the road!

Replaced the fan pulley bracket - about 3 hours total. The bearings were shot and some were AWOL.
I could see once it was apart that a rebuild with a new bearing would be difficult. I would up ordering the part from GermanStar ($125ish).

I checked the neighboring pulleys - the idler pulley which bolts to the bracket had dry bearings but was still serviceable - there was no grease fitting (permanently lubed) so I worked in some light oil which had a teflon additive and it seemed to bring it back to life for now.

The air pump was dragging a bit - perhaps either the bearings or clutch or both are shot. I saw a bearing replacement thread and will order the main pulley and vane bearings in the near future.

Thanks again to those who helped.
Das Boat is back on the road!

Check the bearings with a stethescope, both the one in the idler pulley and the fan clutch bracket. If they are not real loud they are most likely ok.

I have a stethescope and I'll do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
