PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE SAME QUESTION THAT IS POSTED IN THE VINTAGE SECTION.
I have Engine: #130.983.12.003813 in my SL. I believe the engine to be either from 1968 or 1969 280SL. I am having injection pump problems and am considering purchase of used replacement. QUESTION: my current pump is R20Y. Will a R24Y be a direct replacement even though it may be from a 1970 280SE? please advise....marc PS: once again thanks to CTaylor for getting me this far! |

It's been probably eight or ten years since I had to find a mechanical fuel injection pump. At that time I picked up a copy of Hemmings Motor News and found an advertisement for someone who rebuilds them. They were much less expensive than one from the dealer and worked out very well.
Good luck, |

Larry;
I was hoping you would catch this one. What I want to know is; can I remove the R20Y and replace it with the R24Y or will that not function correctly? I have searched the Bosch pages and cannot find a cross-applications chart. HELP!!!! |

I'm sorry, I don't have adequate experience to know the answer to that question. But, the people at the injection rebuild place may know.
Best of luck, |
