Headrest adjustment doesn't work
I have a 98 C280 and neither of headrest adjustments work. The rest of seat adjustments work just fine. My question is, will replacing the switch fix it, or is this a common problem where the motor just breaks or whatever? Thanks for any input.

Can't say if your problem is the same as mine, and the cars are different too, but this may help....

The C280 headrest mechanism is not the same as the one shown in the previous post. I have a post on what I did to fix mine. I am a little suspicious that both of yours are out at the same time. Search for "C280 headrest". My post is the 5th one down in the list that comes up.

Hey, I read your post and when I pulled the back of the seat off, I found the problem. The black plastic piece that is supposed to slide has come off the gear, and I can't get it back on. The motor turns perfectly, and gear just goes and goes, but I can't get the black piece's teeth to the gear. There is a stop on the top and bottom and I get it slide passed the stop. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow this is a really annoying problem. It's not even that I would adjust my headrest, it's just that knowing I can't is driving me crazy.

I would follow the instructions I wrote for removal of the mechanism and then once you have it out it should be much more obvious how to fix it or if something is actually broken. What I wrote at the time is way better than anything I can remember!
