After all my efforts to sell my car for a hig price, I had a gentleman come over tonight to look at my car. He coincidently was from Europe and knew about my car and took it for a 2 mile drive. Without any emotion, he pulled out $14,000 cash and asked if I would mind dropping the car off at his place tonight. I do not know what came over me, but I told him that it was no longer for sale. I thought long and hard about this and here is why I decided not to sell her. I only wanted to get a bigger car for the baby stuff, but when I go out the whole family goes out together in the truck. I started to think about how long it took me to locate this car (6 months) and how much I love the car. The only reason I wanted to get rid of her was for more room. My friend thinks I am crazy, but I absolutely love this car.
What do you think??

its hard to get rid of a car you love.

I loved all my cars, but they were not gotten rid of on purpose by me. The GMC Jimmy I had, the engine broke, and ended up having it replaced, then the tranny went a few thousand miles later, so I just had the car towed away.

My MGB was a great car, and I only got rid of it because I was in an accident, and the insurance co payed me out $4500 for the car, when it was only worth $2500 if I tried to sell it.

My Jeep, was sold to my dad so I could get the deposit I needed to buy my benz. It was a good tradeoff, I can still use the jeep if I need to, and I got my car, and I didn't have to sell the jeep, which I actually still really like.

For me, if it ever comes time to sell the benz, I'll just end up keeping it.

I get attached to my cars, and never want to let them go.

No car sale!

I think you made the right decision if you don't need the money right now, that's why he brought cash, he wanted it CHEEP!

Fast Forward a few years (or months) down the road

You've avoided the "blues" that us gear heads deal with when we've let our "baby" go for the most rational reasons:

"Why did I ever get rid of my _______ (fill in the blank with your most beloved set of wheels). That was one of the best cars I ever had ..... they sure don't make em like that anymore".

My battery was going south today so I replaced it. Even after shelling out the money for a new battery, I am glad I still have her.

I'm going to tell ya'll

since purchasing my 1985 300D turbo I have gotten where I really enjoy it for puttering around town and back and forth to work. The 300D is me - slow to accelerate and once up to speed punch the cruise (at around 65 mph). I will continue to drive the E320 on 30+ miles trips on weekends just to keep it working good but I really like the 300D. There is something about it that says "character" and I do not have to worry about the wife wanting to drive it .
