Does anyone have knowledge of the W126 dashboard?

If so, does the bottom "lip" underneath the wood trim that is usually color-coded to the interior color come apart from the upper half of the dashboard that is usually black? (underneath the wood maybe)

Yes, but it is major work to get it out. Basically taking the whole dash out.
