Good Machine Shop - Austin, TX

Hi,
Looking for a good MB-experienced machine shop in Austin, TX.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

What type? Total rebuild? Heads? Engine in the car or out? I know a couple, but they have there specialties.

I would call Bens -> 512-472-5555

If they don't do their own machine work, they can point you at whoever it is they use.

Ben's does great work but you pay quite a bit extra due to their 5th street location. I use Abdu's European Auto Repair. 512-879-8787. Although Abdu's hourly rate is the same as Ben's, I find that Abdu usually bills me for far less time than Ben's.

There is one trade-off. Abdu can be a bit hard to understand due to his accent where Ben is great at explaining to you what's going on with your car. Meanwhile Abdu fixed an AC problem for $800 that Ben estimated would run nearly three times that.

If Abdu doesn't do machine work in-house, I'm sure he can recommend someone.

MUDTEX,
I should have been more explicit. It is a head job "as necessary", with the head delivered to the shop. I will need a quick turn on the job, as I will only be in Austin a couple of days next week. The car has 98,000 miles, and is not using oil. Mileage just suggests it is about time, and I would prefer to pick the time instead of waiting for oil consumption and smoke to tell me it is time. I'm thinking guides and seals at a minimum, and whatever else might be needed while it is out. No such shops available in my area of East Texas.

Thanks, also, to the other guys who have offered suggestions for Austin shops. The response is appreciated.
