Car at idle for 2 minutes, on level ground, in Park. If just warm, ATF @ 86 degrees F = 0.2 inches BELOW minimum mark. If hot after a good run, ATF @176 degrees F, it should meet the full mark. Don't overfill!!!

Aymn,
Checking ATF level is done with the car in Park and the engine running at idle. Waiting isn't necessary. One waits to check the engine oil after shutting down the engine so as to allow the oil to flow from the top of the engine down to the oil pan by our good freind gravity.
