Well I got just a little tired of a pest of an oil light coming on so I dropped her off at my local profit center. I am having the head gasket, front cam seal, a coolant resivoir-full of oil due to the head gasket- and a full valve job for $2000. The valves were ok but i figured while there in there lets do it. I checked with some independents on pricing and they were only a couple hundred less so I stayed with Williams Auto World who has excellent service. I know its a big stroke for a 1990 but I plan I driving it for a few more years. I sure hopes she appreciates it

Congratulations! I think ;-)
BTW, how many miles on the wagon? My '91 300TE 4M seems to like the oil a bit as well at 69k mi. She's been off the road waiting for her hydraulic valve to come from the manufacturer over seas since 2/13/01. 4M and load levelers won't work mit out it. Ever have any problems with the pop up moon roof? My switch works ok to pop up but not pop down. Full open and full close work ok. Minor deal but sort of a pain. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that yours will appreciate the work. Happy trails!

I already did the load leveler and tailgate shocks the tranny is in good shape so I hope this is it for a while. I have 141,000 on it and by year end I should be pushing the 180 mark maybe more.

I think you've got the top end covered!
I haven't got any idea on what a valve job goes for, but have heard the gasket, cam seal, new reservoir, flush, and valve guides/seals goes for about a grand. If the valves are fine I wouldn't mess with them. But I'd sure be tempted to have the cam and all it's bits measured for specification tolerances as long as they're out there and available to do so. If the cam/followers/valves/springs/journals, etc., are all within spec why bother? The three or four hours of shop time to do the "blueprinting" would be worth the peace of mind I'd think, rather than spending the money on a valve job that might not be necessary. Just my NSHO- YMMV! Best,
