96 C280 Injector Cutout Reset Delima
I have a bad boot on #3 spark plug. Rough idle, check engine light with #3 misfire code P303. The boot tested open. After the boot is replaced will the injector cutoff for that cylinder automatically reset or do I need to do something additional to enable the cylinder?
Funny, tried to repace with a test spark plug wire. (not MB) for test and cannot get spark. Is there a spark automatic cutoff for #3 also? The coil also connects to the #4 plug and it appears to be firing and only the P303 code is being set. Could the coil be bad for just the #3 plug only and still fire the #4? Thanks |
I did this on my car a few months ago.You should change all the connectors at once. After I changed them,my car still ran bad for a minute or two until the ecm recognized the correction of the problem.I disconnected the battery neg. to clear the computer faults before starting after installing the new connectors.

In waste spark , the plugs are a series circuit, so one plug fires from electrode to ground and one fires from ground to electrode. So , if you have a bad boot, the first plug can still fire to ground............ This is also one of the reasons why plats don't run well in a 104 waste ignition system... smalll electrodes |
