How to: Replacing the cabin/dust filter on a W202 C-Class

I replaced my cabin/dust filter today on the C43 and figured I would make a tutorial website for those interested:

Very nice write-up & pictures.
Did you get the charcoal replacement filter?
Can you include the part # for the filter ?

the last MB OEM filter I bought at the dealer for my 202 was made with a paper periphery, they used to have a rigid plastic periphery.
Whats up with that?

The part number for the filter is: 210 830 08 18. This is an extremely impressive part. It is very substantial in feel and the quality is definitely there. It weighs a couple of pounds. Dealer list price is $22.

On the contrary, I recently replaced the filter in my son's C320W4 (W203), which is located in a unit on top of the battery under the hood, and that filter looks like it costs about $5. All soft paper. Very little substance to it.

In the EPC, it is called an activated carbon filter as opposed to the S-Class which is described as an active charcoal filter. I'll have to check on the difference. The E-Class uses the same part number. The S-Class has a different part number.

Correction on the dealer list price for the filter- it is $39.
