Help! B2 piston .. I am so close, I think

This is turning in to a fiasco, as darkness closes in, and the pressure is building..

I have successfully gotten the old/broken B2 piston out of the transmission, sort of. The important part is still stuck in the bore, and I cannot see any reason for it not to come out..but none of the threads say, to my understanding how it is attached, and It looks like to me that the thing is just an interface fit...

one did mention that it is necessary to take the valve body off.. is that the thing bolted to the bottom of the transmission (inside the pan) just below the B2 piston cover?? I dont want to take this thing apart any more than is necessary, but may be that is necessary.

The large (2.5" diamater) part of the old B2 piston. the broken part came out ok, but I am at a loss as to how to grab/push the bigger part out.

Also the big push is off, I decided to close down the shop, rather than do some thing stupid. I will take a crack at the issue again on friday I guess. any Ideas are still welcome.

If there is absolutely no possibilities of grabbing, pulling it out, before you go the sleep buy some JB weld.

Wash and sand the middle of the piston, find an old screw driver, bolt of some thing that will pull the piston out of its bore, once you epoxy it in place. That all precaution not to spill, get any on the transmission.

The directions that I have been looking at imply:

At this point, the piston can be disconected and removed by going up through the transmission pan and removing it out through the right side of the transmission....

Any imput on how the thing needs to be 'disconected'? may be I can make a puller out of some washer and a bolt... JB weld make me nervious, will try to make that a last resort.

You have to remove the valve body , valve body plate, and band support, then all you need to do is push the piston out of its bore, while you are in there also push the old aluminum B2 piston bushing and seal. Don’t forget to also remove the band apply pin. You do have the updated plastic bushing.

That is a nice picture!

Hey I am in luck, as I do have the updated plastic bushing!! getting a bit nervous about getting into the valve body and B2 band(?) but I suppose the car is not doing me any good as it is...

What does the band apply pin look like? is that what holds the B2 piston in place?

C32AMG, Thanks for your help. I took a dose of courage and pulled the valve body, and backing plate off. So now it is all apart, time to reverse the process. There was one plastic longish wedge shaped piece that fell out onto the valve body plate, before I realized what was happening, hopefully I can relocate it's home... Once again Thanks, as never in my wildest imagination would I dig this far into a automatic transmission, yet if it works out, I may be willing to try it on the 86' Benz.
