A/C Compressor Removal
 

:) Iam about to remove the a/c compressor for reconditioning and wondered if there is anything special involved.
Out of interest a seal replacement is AUD$220 and a total reco is AUD$590 here in Oz.

i can promise you that no one can help without knowning the car that you're R&Ring the compressor from.

Since "Starship" is not responding, let met carry on the same or similar job. I have a 1987 300E with 98,000 miles, and a leak which appears to be at the compressor clutch. Bought a rebuilt Behr from ******** (plus a dryer), and can't get the serpentine belt off to begin the transfer. I have read several threads on removal of the belt, and find no applicable answers. Can't even find the hole through which the special "tool" is inserted to keep the viscous clutch from turning so it can be removed. Which is to say, the fan shroud is still in the engine bay and in the way of what I am trying to do.

Any information here would be truly appreciated.
