Can You Tune a 450SL Transmission?
My '75 450SL Granny shifts so bad it's embarrassing. I know on the old diesls you could tune in the tranny, setting how hard she shifted and how late she shifted.
Can it be done on a gasser? If so, How?

To a degree, yes and in the same manner as the diesel transmission . . . via the vaccum modulator valve.

Your 450 most likely has a shift control rod hooked up to the linkage. Labeled "Kickdown" in this picture: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/attachments/vintage-mercedes-forum/18507d1085104722-picture-request-labeled.jpg
Or the very top right in this picture: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/attachments/vintage-mercedes-forum/18505d1085103225-picture-request-dscf0123-.jpg I am assuming the 107 has the same control rod the 108/109's do. Lengthening this rod delays shifts, shortening it lengthens them. Edit: If your shifting is rough make sure the line from the manifold to the modulator is connected properly. The rubber tube came off on mine, making shifting VERY rough.

Ah yes, the vacuum modulator. I know what to do w/ one of them. And I definitely need harder shifts.
Later shifts wouldn't hurt either. I'll look into the rod. Thanks!
