AC question/Steve et al

Got the warm left/cool right AC problem with my 210 chassis. I am assuming that I may be low on refrigerant. Below are the diagnostics I just did. Would someone please verify this for me? When I do recharge, can I just use the high pressure indicator on the climate contol unit to monitor the pressure, hook up the new refrigerant to the low side and stop when I reach the appropriate pressure? Can someone post the appropriate pressure/temperature curve for me to follow please?

cold engine/ warm engine/
not running warm & idling
1 75 87
2 71 73
3 75 66
4 73 53
5 75 67
6 76 166
7 4 bar 11 bar
57 psi 156 psi
8 73 121

Thanks.

Oh, and the error codes I found were
B1416 - coolant circulation pump
B1459 - series interface (K2) connection to instrument cluster
Also had an "FF" - not sure if that means anything.

Pressures are too low and evap temp too high. Only proper way to charge is to weigh the refrigerant.

Did you use to have a problem with your AC before?

sokoloff 04-18-2006 07:04 PM

To Ron - Yes, three years ago I replaced the temperature sensor indicated by #5 in the diagnostic tests above. Since all the temperatures are basically equal on a cold engine, I assume all the sensors are okay. Last time #5 was way out of whack. Have never had to add refrigerant to the system yet.

To Steve - so an addition of refrigerant is out of the question? Must I evacuate and start from square one?
