This is on behalf of my mate, a 89 560sel owner. He doesnt have the owners manual and we cant figure out what this switch does??!

1984 300SD (bought new, sold it in 1988, bought it back 13 yrs. later)

hrrrm well one of his horns doesnt work, and his has the 2-tone horn so maybe it is that.

That could be why pressing it has no discernable effect.

'tis the city/country horn swithch.

City position is hilarious - like what you might hear from one of those little battery powered kiddie cars.

I'm thinking of putting an air horn on one of the positions...it seems that drivers around here are getting as bad as Boston & NY drivers.
