01 CLK430 lack of power (FIXED)

OK I need help, i have an 01 clk 430 with 90k, car stars and idles ok but it has no power. You can drive slow but if you punch the gas it will just lug down, after reading this forum I went and changed the plugs ad it made no diffrence, I also unplugged 1 coil at atime after the plug change and I got a misfire on all 8 when I unplugged, the CEL is on and the codes returned were mutiple cylinder misfire. When I am in park and hit the gas WOT it will rev to maybe 3k rpm if I realease the trottle and apply it again maybe on quarter throttle it will go to the about 4k rev limiter (in park). It feels like lack of gas like a clogged fuel filter maybe. Just thought i would check here to see if this is a common problem... Again PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:silly:

i think this is beyond something you can do at home.
need to pull codes and go from there.

codes were cyl 2 misfire, cyl 4 misfire and multiple cyl misfire, I cleaned the MAF sensor today and the car ran great for about 15 to 20 minutes the started loosing power again, I'm geting a very strong feeling its the sensor.....

Have a shop perform a back pressure test on your exhaust system, you may have a cat problem developing.

Just another .02

I think Mr. C James nailed it.

Sounds like your catalyst are clogged up.

Hold your hand at the rear of the tail pipe and have someone step on the gas, I bet you don't have much breathing through the exhaust.

I had a customer with this problem, and he drove it that way for a year, well actually his wife drove it, but never noticed because she doesen't know the difference, but he noticed it first time he drove it one day.

I came out, told him what he needed, and he still has yet to get it repaired-go figure.

If cleaning the MAF sensor cured it for a while then I'd say there's your problem....let us know.

Its Fixed

Well I took a 399 dollar gamble :greedy: and I bought a MAF sensor, and She runs like the devil again..... I was surprised that the MAF sensor would give a Multiple cylinder misfire code, but that cured it... The funny thing is that the day I fixed it my 94 Mustang GT started doingexactly the same thing, and it was.....The good thing was that on the Mustang I cleaned the sensor and it actually fixed it.... Thanks for all the suggestions.....

What is a MAF sensor?

I have the same problem on my car anything below 2000 rpm's and the car will sputter when pushed the pedal down.................

MAF Sensor

MAF or Mass Air Flow Sensor is the sensor located between the air cleaner and the throttle body, it senses the amount of air passing and tell the computer how much fuel you need for a correct mixture. If this sensor is bas as in my case it will send the wrong signal to the computer and you will get a crappy running car like I had
