I need a distributor (used in good condition) for my 1971 250CE, the body is machined aluminum and not cast iron. Anyone who has one please let me know.

Also does anyone know where I could find a Manifold Pressure Regulator (for a 6 cyl with fuel injection)?

Many Thanks

If you ever get that car near Gainesville I would love to see it. I have never seen one.

I suspect the manifold pressure sensor from a 3.5 would be good enough. The 3.5 had the full load stop built into the sensor as I imagine the 250CE did. The 4.5s had a five wire throttle switch and electrically delt with full throttle mixture. Check the throttle switch, if its four wire the 3.5 sensor will work.

I also have never seen that distributor, but the 164E Volvo would be very similar. The distributors might work. I presume that the 250CE has two point trigger points like the Volvo.

250CE - Distributor Needed

Thanks Steve for the reply. I am a ways from Gainsville, but I would be more than happy to send a couple of pics of the car (under hood) Looks like a cross between a M130 and a M117.

If the pressure regulator is the same as the 3.5 should I assume that would apply for the 4.5 also?

As for the volvo - my car definately has 2 trigger points (I just replaced them). Is that the engine series or the model for the volvo ? any idea on years?

I am essentially trying to see if the distributor is bad or not.

thanks

I have used the 4.5 regulator on 3.5 before for test purposes. As I said above they are different. The one on a Volvo or VW from around 1971 might be closer. The 4.5 doesn't have the full load stop built into the regulator as the full throttle enrichment is handled electronically with a full throttle position on the throttle switch.

The 164E volvo that you need would be the earliest ones with EFI (probably 1971-1973. The latest ones didn't have ignition points if I recall correctly.

My 250CE has a throttle position switch, I don't know if that will make any difference or not.

Thanks
