sunroof gone crazy..
Hi everyone, my motorized sunroof lever (switch) has gone crazy. It is a 4-way swicth ('99 E320), has up/down/forward/back functions. Pressing it Up/down used to operate the sunroof up/down. Forward/back moved it forward/back. Now all of a sudden it has developed a mind of its own, and it cross-reacts. Example up will move it up, but down will not move it down. Now back will move it down and the same back will also move it back etc. etc. Sometimes forward would move it down and back would do nothing etc etc.
How can I re-adjust it to operate as it used to? |

It DOES help. My sunroof was doing the exact same thing as the first post and re-synchronizing it did the trick.

my 99 clk320 has exact same problem. re-synchronizing did not help.

i belong to a mercedes shop forum that offer support for technical issues to mercedes shops around the world, there was a similar post there with similar issues see fix post below
---------------------Car was repaired correctly------------------------- Thanks for the replies - several suggested that the sunroof needed to be synchronized - I attempted that - process is to hold sunroof switch in the tilt up position for 5-10 seconds -This did not initally work and correct the problem. After speaking with tech support - they indicated that this is a Hall effect car - meaning that sunroof position is learned and then determined by watching the Hall sensor - the overhead control panel must "unlearn" the pre-existant information before it will take a synchronization. SDS can do this but if you lack an SDS you can just unplug all the wires to the dome lamp assembly OCP and then reconnect them. This causes the system to loose memory. After I reconnected the panel - the system would synchronize and works perfectly. Thank you for all for the help. seems that disconnecting the battery would do it also. |
thanks carson356. it did work for a while but now its back to being crazy again

Your probably dealing with a faulty sunroof motor sounds like the hall sensor is going open during movement.I know it costs to visit the Dealer but they have the equipment to monitor the hall sensor readings. Its also posible you have a faulty overhead control panel. Good Luck Tim |
