300ce weird transmission shifting

Hi all:

The transmission in my "90 300ce starts off in first gear all by itself sporadically. Then it will not shift to second until about 5000 rpm. I cannot get it to start in first when I want it to by starting off with the selector in 2. I suspect some electronic issue - relay or bad ground or something. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Sounds like the kick down solenoid is being engaged some how. try disconnecting the electrical plug on the right rear of the transmission.
