Problems Starting C240 sport

Hi,
My Benz has problems starting. It turns as normal when starting cold, and is also fine when starting after brief periods. However, if left for qabout half hour before restarting it fails. Merc Benz could not find the error, a mechanic said to me that he feels it is the crankshaft sensor. Never heard of it. Could this be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Titch : )

The failure rate on the crank sensor IS very high on the V-6 & newer V-8's..

That would be MY starting point!
