Did you ever get this sorted out. I have pictures of the subframe mounts installed but the batteries are dead in my camera so I cant download right now. If I forget send me a PM to remind me.

Hi,
Another thing to check is the clearance between the pan and the front subframe assy. If your motor mounts are sagging the pan can actually hit the front subframe and will produce noise that sometimes only shows up when the car is in drive.

John,

Thanks for the pictures of the subframe mounts. It confirms that my installation was incorrect, but I have already remedied the situation. Picture of mount assy in my CD manual are not great and I did not realize that the nuts must be positioned with the nut protruding down toward the mount and away from the anti-rotation wings. I had the reverse which allowed excessive movement of the subframe.

Thanks all!

PS. I still like to get together someday since you are close to me so that we can share experiences with the 560sl.

Steve
