Removed too much doing rear brakes--semi-emergency

Hey all,

In process of changing my 89 560 SEC's rear rotors and pads, I smartly removed the 13mm bolt that (after searching the mbcoupes.com archives) holds the axle shaft to the hub. Turned out I just needed to whack the rotor harder to get it off. Anyway, now it seems the 13mm bolt is too short to grab the threads with the washer on it. Did I misalign something in the rotor-whacking process? I'm fairly alarmed here as I can't get the car back on the road (goind on a trip this weekend)......

I'll work on the passenger side rotor (minus the 13mm) in the meantime.

Thanks for any advice!

Are you able to push the outer CV joint outwards from under the car towards the hub?
If you can start the nut without the washer under it you may be able to pull out the driveshaft out enough to remove the nut and install the washer under it.

Hi!

You're absolutely right. Pulling the CV rod towards the brake assembly moved the threaded part closer so the bolt fit in just fine. Didn't think it would be that easy, but thank you very much!!!
