I did it today.

The old a/c compressor was getting louder than the engine even though its still working good. Changed it for less than USD100.

The original would have costed close to USD600, but getting a reconditioned unit on the advise of the chappie. Comes with a one year warranty.

Not bad huh?

Hi Kerry, what a coincidence! I did not expect to find your post in my search for a compressor change. :)

There's some noise coming from the compressor area in my car, and comes only when the a/c is turned on. So I suspect the compressor, although I do not know if the sound means the compressor is gonna fail. Presently it is still working fine, although the noise is something new.

What brand of compressor did you get? How much did it cost in RM? I've heard of Denso, York and Sanden in 126s, do you know which one gives the coolest air?

Might want to do the compressor job soon, pls advise, thanks!

Mervyn - the only way to be sure is to listen to the engine when the compressor is off, and when the a/c is turned on. You can't miss it. I forgot the brand he told me, but it was from a Japanese MB's compressor (from Japan), and the job (plus labour) costed me RM350-00 - with 1 year warranty.
