Question 560 Air Slide Valve noise, Question

I have a 1988 560 SEC. The Air Slide Valve makes a humming noise loud enough to be heard over normal engine noise at RPMS over 2500. You can hear this inside the car at 65+mph. At idle you can hear the hum with a stethescope. The sound is very similar to that that comes from the alternator when it and the engine are cold. Kind of a throaty hum.
Is this normal ?? or do I have a developing problem with this valve and what happens if it does go bad. ?? Thanks for any help. LEE

Air slide valve? Do you mean the Idle air valve? Has a two prong electical connection, and two large tubes going to it?

Air Slide or Idler Air Valve

My mechanic referred to it as an Idle air valve. Looking it up in my Performance Products catalog it is referred to as an Air Slider Valve (@ $189). I think we are talking about the same device with 2 hoses and a two pronged electrical connection. Thanks Lee

Discription is right, sounds like you are getting cost price on the part too. I wouldn't really worrie unless the idle is starting to mess up. But you can alwase check current amp draw to it.
