78 450 sel w/ 40K miles
Burns a lot of oil and fouls one spark plug. a/c not working. Garaged since new.
I have known the car since new so no issues w/ originality. What's a fair price for her? Could the oil burning be a big problem? |
I have a 1978 450 SEL I'm looking to sell, and with all of the issues:
Fan constantly blows hot air (probably $600 servo problem) Automatic antenna does not work Short in electrical system requires disconnecting battery nightly Rear seat rot Paint faded With only 100,500 miles, I hope to get $600. If not, the goodwill gets it in a month. |
Only 40k miles and oil burning? :disappoin This is totally unacceptable.
I have always heard that these engines were virtually bulletproof. Yes, if the oil burning is that severe, it could be a major issue. I guess I should think myself lucky that my 267K still uses NO oil between changes. I still find that strange. Good day. Quote:

Have you tried posting in the "FOR SALE" sections?

[QUOTE=Wildman]I have a 1978 450 SEL I'm looking to sell, and with all of the issues:
Fan constantly blows hot air (probably $600 servo problem) Automatic antenna does not work Short in electrical system requires disconnecting battery nightly If your servo is jammed, it will try to return to its "park" position and run down the battery. If you turn the car off and listen with the hood up and hear the servo motor running without shutting down after 10-15 seconds, you've found your battery drain problem. |
