DUOVALVE: How long to replace? Dealer says 1.5 hrs

It is in for some other stuff so I said go ahead and do it. Gave me a fair price on the part. BUT -- from what I remember in looking at it -- I can't imagine what could possibly take more than 30 minutes, tops.

What is the "book" or alldata time?

msethk 05-25-2006 05:38 PM

i have one arriving here today ups. i don't know how many by the book but i will try to let you know when finished. all it really looks like is 2 hoses and one electrical connection. btw... what did you pay for the part?

brookspw 05-25-2006 06:24 PM

$189.00

msethk 05-25-2006 08:39 PM

if you haven't made the purchase yet, consider ******** az at 125.00. with free ground shipping. just showed up ups so i will wait until morning to put it on. i have investigated and it looks like a pretty easy swap.

Explain the time rate. How does .8 hour equal 30 minutes?

lee polowczuk 05-26-2006 09:10 AM

Should take no more than 30 minutes on a w124.

you might need a wet rag to clean residue on the inside of the heater hoses...... if your hoses are real clean...it's a good sign of engine coolant that has been replaced on a regular basis.

meltedpanda 05-26-2006 10:58 AM

it took me a good hour to do on my friends car , you have to remove a lot of crap to get to it and wrestle with a blue million lines and clamps
typical Mercedes.....:silly:

.5 is 1/2 hour so .8 is a litle more than 1/2 hour, obviusly 1.0 is 1 full hour.

shandy 05-26-2006 05:10 PM

0.8hr is 48 mins exactly.

Well, they charged me exactly 1.5 hours. How do I call them on the carpet?

ask them where they got the time from? also please remember that the time guide is exactly that, a guide, so times may differ from shop to shop.

msethk 05-26-2006 06:26 PM

just got done doing mine. never done it before and it only took me 38 minutes. pretty easy swap out.
