Angry major oil leak 560SEL

i have replaced the rear main seal twice on my 87 mercedes 560SEL with in a year ! noticed excessive oil leak towards the back of the engine , oil pressure gauge always on 3 when engine is runing and i think that is when the leak started. need tech. help or anyone with similar problem if they know what could be the cause of the leak .Thx

Look closely at the head/block junction. 560's often have weeping head gaskets, some worse than others.

3 is normal. Especially if you use a heavy weight oil and the engine is cold. As the oil and engine warm up the guage will probably go down to between 1-2 when the engine is at idle.

The single lead to the kick-down solenoid on the passenger side of the tranny has probably been knocked off/loose.

Are there oil gallery freeze plugs at the rear of the M117 block? I know these can weep in an OM617.

Also make sure you didn't knock off the vacuum line to the vacuum modulator (located on the driver's side of the tranny), should be a white/opaque vacuum line. That might account for the odd third gear shift.

Is your oil pressure gauge reading 3bar with the key on but engine off (KOEO)? If so, your oil pressure sensor could be bad or the connector to the sensor is not making good contact (open circuit to sensor=3bar with KOEO). Mark
