C320 - CD player inop & SRS light on??

[C320Wagon]

2002 C320 wagon. Yesterday, the "SRS" light came on, and the CD player quit working at the same time. The radio says "magazine empty" even though there are indeed CD's in the changer magazine. Also have the message on the panel reading: "restraint system malfunction visit workshop" (or similar)

Thoughts, advice, etc???

I'll take it that it's a W203 C320, maybe a 2001 or 2002? I'll also assume you're out of warranty.

Can't help you with the CD player, but your SRS system is only accessed through the Star Diagnostic System (SDS) and it will take about 2 minutes to figure out the problem once your car is hooked to the SDS. Could be one of MANY things inlcuding an air-bag (the car has a bunch), a firing module, a sensor or seat-belt buckle. You could just spend $10K+ and replace everything and save yourself the hassle of finding a mechanic with SDS...
