SERVICE "A" what is involved???

Hi Guys, and thanks for the mechanical help.
I'm pretty new to MBz ownership.
I bought a used 2000 CLK 430, and the Service "A" in 400 miles message is comming on.
I'm a pretty good at working on cars. In fact i've built chevy and VW engines in the past, but never owned a mercedes.
I'm not rich, and would like to perform the services myself. Would you please tell me what is involved in the service, A reasonable place to purchase parts, and how to reset the "Service A" computer on the dash. Thanks for your time and help.

It's all covered in the owner/maintenance manual. If yours didn't come with one, you can get one from your dealer or by calling 800-FOR-MERC(EDES). Also the dealer ought to be able to provide you with a nice trifold sheet that they use as a check sheet when performing that service.

Service "A" is nothing more than a glorified oil change, plus routine inspections. If you're already a car guy, you probably check all this stuff as a matter of routine anyway.

You can do Service "B" too.

Follow the advice above, and you'll be on the right track.

It is simple to reset service interval.
On the "wrench" screen just press and hold the reset button ( on the right side of cluster) for 3 sec. The display will ask you yes or no to reset. If you press yes and you will get another 10,000 miles to run.:D

Thanks for your help

Thanks for all of your help. I changed the oil right after bought it, and the air cleaners looked brand new. I ran injecter cleaner through the fuel system and checked the brakes and tire pressure. It all looks good. I thought something special may need to be done since it's a Mercedes. Once again, thanks for your help.
