Euro 500, several issues: vacuum routing, check valve, timing, etc...

I posted under the SL forum but didn't get much help since most of you are into other models, not just the 107.

Here's the threads:

Idle controllers for 107 V-8's, interchangeable?

Full RPM shift points, early upshift, rough idle, vacuum tuning etc

Basically I'd like to know about the blue/black check valve being OK to replace the green/white check valve near the vacuum line for distributor advance.

For setting timing at 16 degrees BTDC, can I do this with the distributor advance disconnected? Cuz I think there is a leak causing advance not to be spot on thus my timing is off spec. This weekend I am working on getting the vacuum routing done right.

I was offered/almost bought a '84 500SEL with 190k and seized motor (ran out of oil, supposedly) for $400 today:

but passed when I realized it'd be a hassle to tow around and the USA spec parts wouldn't really work well. I basically wanted it for the fuel distributor, idle controller/warm up reg, and to look at how the vacuum was routed on the top end. I figured I'd be patient and do my car the right way, with the right Euro parts, SO I CAN GET THE DAM THING SMOGGED and registered here in CA! It came so close the first test before I went ahead and changed out the timing chain/guides, intake plenum gaskets, replacing broken throttle body vacuum switch, and the plastic vacuum lines, etc. Only ting thats keeping me is the vacuum routing at a couple places and the correct timing setting for distributor.

Car idled smooth before all the work was done, but rough now, I think its a combination of the timing being off, vacuum misroute, and idle controller module (which I'm looking for).

Last question, my car shifts at 4500 rom at WOT, 1st gear kickdown doesnt work, nor if you put the gearshift on "B." I have a new fuel pump relay with 5950rpm cutoff, does this control the kickdown solenoid function as well?

THANKS in advance....
