Group buy - high-end scanner
 

Hey Guys,

I was getting ready to buy a scanner for Autoland Scientech when I realised they are located in the same city where I live - Austin, Texas. Anyhow, called the guys up to see about a direct buy from them, rather than go through a distributor. Figured I could save a few bucks. Anyhow, talking with the sales guy it looks like we could get a pretty good price on a multiple buy.

This company was the first to introduce an aftermarket Mercedes scanner and the VeDIS has about 85% of the functionality that the Mercedes STAR has. It can read/clear codes, activations and adaptations. Other cartridges can be purchased for BMW, Audi etc.

Base unit and Mercedes cartridge run about $1600 retail. Depending on how many we buy we could probably do quite a bit better than that.

Anyone interested?

How about collaborating on software for the ELM interface instead? That may be capable of doing 100% of the STAR functionality, and it's a whole lot cheaper.
