W220 Wont Start - Please help!

Hey guys,

I am really at a loss here. My 2000 S430 will not start. Here's the setup:

Started out as an intermittent no crank - now the car wont crank at all.
No "PNRD" showing up on the instrument cluster

Here is what I have done so far:

New brake light switch
Verified battery charge
Replaced ESM - electronic shift module

Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

The W140 is said to be very very complex with many computers. Therefore, it would follow that the W220 is equally or even more complex.

Before you throw random $ at it buying parts that may or may not be involved, why have the car flat bedded to the dealer and have it properly diagnosed?

If one elects to drive a modern S class out of warranty, one must expect some not insignificant dollars to maintain the car.

Guys,

This is a "technical" forum. All too often I see guys saying "take it in". Unfortunately, this car has been in and the dealer is the one throwing parts at the problem.

From my very practical experience, I can tell you that the dealer is very very often wrong. This board usually gives great guidance that can point the dealer in the right direction.

Ah, but you didn't say that in your first post.

Even though this is a technical forum, I think you would agree that there have been more than a few posters trying to solve their particular problem(s) by buying part after part hoping to solve it.

Problems, such as the one you describe, are why I may be nicely stuck at 1995 relative to Mercedes.

sounds like the battery to me

I've seen a lot of "verified battery charge" posts on this forum only to read later that the battery was, in fact, shot. Try swapping with a known good battery.
