Can I have the rotors on a 98 e class cut slighty before installing new pads.Rotors have 35,000 miles on them and I just wanted to clean up the small edge and directional lines. Thanks for your input.

You can, but not recommended. Unless they are scored or severely worn, they should be OK. If you are going to have them cut to clean them up, that's the same as turning them. Again, not recommended, but we all know it can be done, and I'll bet we all know someone who has done it..

A lot of people who have turned rotors on MBs have little succes due, to the material being so soft. Replace the rotors. Don't suggest turning them. It'll be a waste of money.

THANKS for all your advise. I replaced front pads and left rotors alone this time.Next time , if needed, I ll just replace rotors, but thats along time off as I have over 35K on original front pads.Every MB owner sholud read these posts, especially the link from Mikes post. (PS. brakes feel great, very easy on new e class).

REfacing the rotors is recommended by MB & almost all dealerd do reface rotors every day. WHEN finished there should be at least 1mm above min spec. MANY race car people use rotors that have "heat" cycled on street cars & reface them to race with. WHO ever says refacing rotors ins't recommended doesn't work at a BENZ retail outlet center.
