Today my realtor, wife and myself went house hunting again today when we were rear-ended by a Dodge Ram! It was a pretty low speed accident, but when you mix a Ram with a 300e at any speed the result is not good. The impact was pass/rear corner, where it tore the top of the bumper, smashed the taillamp, kinked the trunck lid and buckled the quarter panel at the gas filler. The trunk floor looked kinked as well. My wife was in the back and felt the impact pretty good. She did not scream "my neck, my neck!" until this evening before she went bed. She is a little stiff and is going to check it out tomorrow. We don't want to take any chances. Anyway I told my realtor given her cars age(15 yrs) and mileage(183k) the insurance may total that car. I hope not because she just put a rebuilt tranny and a/c last year! The part that got me was the buckle above and beside the gas filler. That does not sound good! Any words of wisdom?

ps- I got a $500 deposit on the 84' 300d from a bidder on E-bay! He is driving from Michigan Sat. to pick up the car! He better!

Thanks,

Joe Golden

Sorry to hear of the accident! Hope you and your wife are okay. She should definitely, absolutely, and without any hesitation see a Dr tomorrow. She should have done so today. Better to be safe than sorry! You should to, if you have even the slightest discomfort.

Too bad about the car 300e. Part of the purpose for a MB is to give it’s all to save it’s passenger. It sounds to have done well in that regard.

I ahve no doubts that the 300E is a safe car. It is (to a certain degree) designed to crumple, in order to protect the passengers. What is it with Dodge Rams lately, Ben300SD recently was hit as well.

My best wishes to you and your wife.

Joe,
sorry to hear of the accident. A Dodge RAM no less!

Re the car: Sounds as though no real frame damage to the car. Lots of 'upper' real estate (no pun intended!) damage but it should fix OK.

Hope you wife is ok and definitely go to the saw-bones and demand an MRI. Xrays do not see anything but broken bones!

Joe,
How is your wife doing? Did she go to the Doctor? Hope everything is o.k.

I suspect she could have had a whiplash. Would be fine after a few days.

Hope all is well ... with all our (Swanee & I) warmest wishes from Malaysia. :)
