Rear Brake Problem E430 4matic
I'm working on the rear brakes of my E430 4matic...I found both rotors severely pitted and rusted on the inside surface...the outer surface looks fine...brake pads look fine....on further inspection the inner brake pads on both sides were frozen fast to the caliper...it was very difficult to remove the inner pads..the outer pads came out with no difficulty....the inner pistons are free but could not move the jammed pads to provide braking power....is this a common problem in Ate calipers or was I just lucky. The car only has 42,000 miles on it and is always garaged kept. The part that upsets me is I complained about brake noise and chatter when the car was under warranty and was told that was normal....if this is a common problem others who have this car should be alerted...

Probably a fluke. Nothing a set of rebuilt rear calipers can't fix.
